I wanted to share our daily routine splitted in parts. So here is #1 🙂
Our day starts between 4.30 and 5 in the morning. It’s really hard to stand up sometimes.. then we have to rush a little because we have to get the cows to the barn first. We put our clothes on which we already prepare in the evening and go outside. This may last 5 to 10 minutes. When we are outside we have to put on our alpine boots, grab our stick and start to get up the mountain. If we were too slow before there’s even no time to pee 😀 when we found the cows we start driving them down which is not as easy as it sounds. Sometimes the herd is splitted so Richard and I have to split up too and one of us has to climb up the mountain even more. We have one group of cows which are always on the highest spot of the meadow so every morning someone has to go further. When we finally arrived about 30min later someone is waiting by the barn to get the cows in. After all cows are on their leashes we finally eat breakfast. Everyday some muesli and fresh milk 😛
This is a little calf which came with it’s herd to us. There are not very loved here because they go through every fence and eat the grass of the cows which give milk. But they are very cute anyway!
I (Tess) finally arrived five days ago in Switzerland and joined Richard on the alp. It’s all about milking cows and feeding and we are also making cheese and butter. You can’t imagine it’s sooo good! So the first days went good for me, Richard is helping me a lot because I’m still struggling in milking for example. That’s not as easy as I had it in mind, the cows could get sick if you make mistakes. But I think I will learn it fast so I’m not worried 🙂 We still have many days left here, about two months, so I have time to get a real cowgirl haha
Anyways we are already sleeping in our (soon) bus and testing out the space. We really love it and look forward for a good time with it!
I also wanted to share some pictures with you
I will update the blog from time to time but it’s nor easy because we have so much to do. I’ll try my best!
this is Tess’ and Richard’s blog and we are happy that you visit us and our journey. But for now we don’t have something to tell because we haven’t started yet. We will upload something when we have started.
